About Us

The Greyhound Club was formed in 2010 by several like-minded people who were interested in owning and racing a greyhound.

This came to fruition in March 2010 when a puppy was purchased from experienced trainer David Mullins to start the club. Joe ran his first competive race on June 11th, showing good middle and late pace to steal the victory on the line, making a winning debut - Long may it continue!

The first club night took place at Romford on June 5th 2010, when the name of the dog was chosen, in a rather unique way! Six possible names were chosen, and each allocated to a dog in the 8.48 race—The winning trap would be the name of the puppy. So, that’s how the name of the dog was chosen!

Since this time, three further Greyhounds have been purchased, and the star of the show is Bonamassa Rocks, a firm favourite on RPGTV, who progressed to the Quarter Finals of the Greyhound Derby whilst just out of Puppyhood.

Rocks regrettably broke a hock in November 2013, and has recently returned to the Open Race scene, regaining his fitness and winning two from his six starts as he progresses back to the dog we know and love.

The newpup on the sceneis puppy Bonamassa Star, who has a lot to look up to with his Bonamassa seniors! Whilst he got off to a slow start, along with several of his brothers and sisters, he has recently started to progress, and is currently running at Grade A5, after 3 wins in 16 races. Showing good pace up to the first bend, he is a force to be reckoned with down the back straight.

We are fortunate to have now purchased our fourth puppy from Dave Mullins, and the as yet unnamed puppy has a sire that everyone knows - Ballymac Eske. One of his first litters of puppies, with the same mother, Lady Luck, as Bonamassa Star. It will certainly be an interesting litter of puppies to watch, and we look forwards immensely to this!
